“First nude scene was odd!”

The Proposal (out June 19) not only marks Sandra Bullock’s first romantic comedy in nearly five years. It also is the first time the actress, 44, had to shoot a nude scene.

“Sadly, my first and last nude scene got laughs, so I had to be very secure with that,” she said Sunday at the film’s press junket. “It was all about choreography. I mean, literally when you read it on the page, you saw it, and then you realized, ‘OK, there is no way to shoot this unless you are buck naked!’ Then I went, ‘Go to the gym, cut out the carbs!”

The scene — which involves a naked run-in scene with costar Ryan Reynolds — took three days to film and over a dozen takes.

“I’m glad it made people laugh,” she said. “Shooting it was odd. There are things stuck to areas that generally you don’t have things [stuck to]. I mean, you have things covering [your body], but not stuck to it. And then they got unstuck, and oddly we didn’t care because we were so tired.”

Added Reynolds, “Yeah, at that point, shame is gone completely. The weirdest part is calling your mom nude on set: ‘Hey, just checking in!'”

The Proposal is Bullock’s first romantic comedy since 2005’s Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous.

“I stopped doing them,” she said. “They are terrible, they are bad. They are not funny, so they shouldn’t be a romantic comedy and most of the time they are not romantic. So they shouldn’t be called a romantic comedy. They should be called that other kind of film.”

She said she refuses to call The Proposal a romantic comedy.

“It reminds me of the films from like the ’30s and ’40s where there was a landscape and a story and drama was allowed to be in there,” she said. “You can’t have good comedy without drama in it. And they don’t generally write well for women in romantic comedies.”

“I love my comedy too much to bastardize it with bad romantic comedy,” she went on. “So I was like, ‘I’m going to find another way to work and do it in a way that I love.’ So I’m not calling this a romantic comedy.”

Bullock Researching ‘Blind Side’ Role

Movie star Sandra Bullock was in the Mid-South Monday. She surprised some staffers at Briarcrest High School with an impromptu visit. Bullock was in town to research her new role.

The school’s principal Steve Simpson said Bullock has been cast as Leigh Anne Tuohy, the mother of Michael Oher.

“She was very down to earth, very pleasant, very warm and charming,” said Simpson.

Simpson said Tuohy accompanied Bullock to the school.

Tuohy is a well to do, conservative woman who took in the homeless Oher. Oher had a tough childhood. His father was murdered when he was a child and his mother was addicted to crack cocaine.

After attending a dozen Memphis schools, Oher made his way to Briarcrest. There he excelled at football and became a top college prospect. The Tuohy family took him in and helped him catch up academically.

“I told Sandra Bullock she better get ready and do her homework because Leigh Anne Tuohy has a lot of energy and is a very exciting person,” said Simpson.

Oher went on to play football at Ole Miss on a scholarship. At six foot six and more than 300 pounds, the offensive lineman is considered by many to be a potential top pick in the NFL draft.

His story was made into a book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game.” It’s now being made into a feature film.

“I think it’s a great story and at this point of his life, he’s really done some remarkable things,” said Simpson.

And Simpson thinks Bullock will not be the last famous face to show up at Briarcrest.

“Down the line, before or at the beginning of filming, we may hear from or see some people from Hollywood,” he said.

New comer Bryan Lay has been cast as Michael Oher. Oher’s surrogate father Sean Touhy has not yet been cast.

Sandra Bullock is reportedly still in the Mid-South, now in Oxford to see where Oher currently is going to school.

Sandra Bullock Gets ‘Blindsided’

Sandra Bullock has signed on to star in a football movie based on the real-life story of an underprivileged teen who goes on to become one of the nation’s most sought after players.

In ‘Blindside,’ Bullock will play the woman whose well-to-do family takes in football player Michael Oher, who was escaping a past of foster homes and being on the streets, according to Variety. Oher is widely expected to be a top pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

The film — based on the book The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game,” by Michael Lewis — is being produced by ‘Marley & Me”s Gil Netter for Warner Bros.-based Alcon Entertainment, Variety says.

“All About Steve” release pushed back

Studio bosses at the helm of SANDRA BULLOCK’s latest film ALL ABOUT STEVE have pushed back the release date – because there are so many romantic-comedies currently competing for a slice of box office success.
The film was slated to hit theatres in the U.S. on 6 March (09) but has been possibly held from the market until the autumn.
Twentieth Century Fox have reportedly decided to delay the film due to the fact so many female-marketed movies are vying for cinemagoers attentions at the the same time.
All About Steve’s release would have been up against newly-released Confessions of a Shopaholic and Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore’s star-studded rom-com He’s Just Not That In To You – which shot straight to the top of the U.S. box office earlier this month (Feb09).
